Bill Sofield designed the Liberte as an homage to the torch atop the Statue of Liberty. The statue was a turn of the century gift from the French. In some ways, that parallels the development of a free society in each country and, much later, the free spirit of Art Deco design. The latter began in France and ultimately thrived in America. Like the statue, its influence continues to this day.
The Liberte Sculpture is custom cast with a rich Bronze Patina finish. Its curves, wraps, and folds suggest a flickering flame.
