The Cascade reinterprets familiar natural motifs in the crisp geometric vocabulary of modernism. The tapering stem-like column borrows its proportions from the irregular growth rings seen throughout nature, and surface reeding adds a sense of length or refinement. The base is a cast brass platform with a graduated, deeply scored sunburst design. The same idea motivates the disc finial at the top, where a stylized sunflower mimics the radiance of the Lamp.
With a bit of a taper, the shade is unusually elegant for a cylinder design. The material is a substantial Sand Shantung silk.
