This dramatic Regency style spot table is unusual for its proportions and long scimitar legs. While the top surface is relatively small, with nicely figured swirl mahogany in a sunburst pattern, the frieze is thick, and the overall effect is architectural. The exaggerated sweep of the leg is daring but appropriate. The delicate lower shelf is a concave triangle.
A spot table goes where the imagination takes it. The height and formality of the form would complement a tuxedo arm chair or a shelter sofa. The scale is right for a landing. Overall, the form is a great candidate for our Designer Palette paint program, where it could easily be recast as Hollywood Regency or an eccentric accent.
