About This Product

Barbara Barry originally designed the Empress for her own home. Like most good fashion, it flaunts a curve, presents a crisp silhouette from every angle, and ultimately shows a little leg. The wood frame highlights the silhouette - light, sculpturally flowing, and edited - with everything in proportion. The Empress makes a big impression on a modest footprint. The curve of the back allows it to work the room, even in traffic, while welcoming the user with a knife edge pillow in just the right way. The long lines of the back sweep forward to hold and still show enough of the seat cushion. Evidence that couture can be comfortable.
