About This Product

The Normandie is a reference to the most luxurious transatlantic ocean liner of the 1930s, which bridged French and American Art Deco in a surge of travel first prompted by Prohibition. Here, the wavy look of a folding screen - in highly figured Bubinga veneers - wraps three sides of the Desk. The top drawers are shallow, and the center drawer hides a finger pull. Soft close drawers. While scaled to work in most homes, the Normandie is a legitimate executive desk. The right pedestal houses both a box and a file drawer. The left pedestal has shelves behind a door. Easily paired with the chests or credenzas from the Bill Sofield Collection - or just as easily used as a stand-alone Modern statement.

About This Collection

Interior Design magazine described Bill Sofield as “a choreographer of spaces.” Considered one of the most thoughtful design talents of his generation and a true master of Modernism, Sofield believes that design must serve the client’s individual needs and function as beautifully as it looks. Sofield’s design approach introduces creative tension that allows the character of a room to reveal itself over time. And his furniture and product design map out each object’s future, designing it to improve with use and age, as it eventually becomes  a treasured heirloom.
