  1. Baker and Susan Ferrier Unveil Dynamic, Earth-Inspired Furniture Collection for Spring 2025

    FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

A Fusion of Nature’s Power and Artistry, the 72-Piece Susan Ferrier Collection for Baker Represents the Award-Winning Designer’s Foray into Furniture Design

HIGH POINT, NC (April 2025) – Baker is delighted to debut its Spring 2025 collection in collaboration with prolific Atlanta-based interior designer, Susan Ferrier. The 72-piece line draws inspiration from the most powerful forces of the natural world – tectonic shifts, flowing magma, and volcanic eruptions – to inspire stunning furnishings for the living room, dining room and bedroom. As Ferrier’s first-ever furniture collection, the designer has curated an exceptional array of distinctive pieces that pull from her travels and bold adventures across the globe.

The Susan Ferrier Collection for Baker encompasses an assortment of tables, seating, mirrors, beds and lighting, with each product named after earth elements and forces, as well as ancient civilizations and volcanic regions. Alive with timeless energy and organic materials, the collection incorporates cast bronze, oak, leathered stone, polished marble and rich fabrics to create pieces that are at one with the natural world. The focus on lava and natural terrain allow for innovation within materiality, making way for four new wood finishes, seven new bronze finishes, and two striking stone introductions – Leathered Belgian Bluestone and Namibia White Marble. The lamps are crafted in Italy, showcasing elegant materials like white onyx and genuine shagreen.

Known for creating sensuous, atmospheric interiors, Ferrier founded Susan Ferrier Interiors in 2018 after nearly 20 years as partner of the architecture and design firm, McAlpine. She has been awarded a coveted spot in Elle Decor’s A-List of the top interior designers in the world. In addition to piloting her design firm, Ferrier co-authored Art of the House: Reflections on Design, the celebrated design book which details her poetic approach to creating striking interiors. Continually inspired by travel and global cultures, Ferrier seeks inspiration from the destinations and landscapes she visits, which led to her bold, passionate vision for this premiere furniture collection.

“As my debut furniture collection, this collaboration with Baker is a milestone – an opportunity to bring my design vision to life with a heritage brand that values innovation, craft and timeless style,” said Ferrier. “Throughout my career in interior design, my travels – particularly those to archeological sites – have deeply influenced my creative approach. I am endlessly fascinated by the power of the earth, how raw elements transform over time, and the beauty found in ancient civilizations. This collection is a reflection of that. From molten-like metals that echo the fluidity of volcanic rock to lahar-inspired pieces that capture the movement of stone, every design is meant to evoke a sense of discovery. I wanted each piece to honor the artistry of handcraftsmanship. I am thrilled to introduce these 72 designs, each one bringing depth, energy, and a tactile connection to nature into any space.”

Highlights from The Susan Ferrier Collection for Baker include:

    • Fira Lounge Chair – Named after the ancient Greek city that was lost to a volcanic eruption, the low-profile Fira Lounge Chair pairs cast bronze with sophisticated upholstery. Its classic and fluid form displays the solidity of quickly cooled earth following a lava flow.
    • Lahar Sideboard – The smooth, vertical lines of the Lahar Sideboard are inspired by the soil and water that flow down the faces of volcanoes. This captivating, uninterrupted doweled form conceals multiple shelves and distinct storage spaces.
    • Teide Counter Stool – The design of the Teide Counter Stool is inspired by Mt. Teide, an active volcano and the highest summit in Spain. Like the volcano itself, the foundation of the stool is meant to reflect the vertical bands at its base. By contrast, its top layer is represented by plush upholstery, offering both form and comfort. The base is crafted in bronze plated stainless steel in the Hraun finish.
    • Lull Sofa – The Lull Sofa offers a generously scaled retreat that beckons for a quiet moment of daydreaming or relaxation. Offering a modern and sophisticated look, the sofa is expertly crafted with a square tufted bench cushion and a pair of bolsters with leather strapping and bronze buttons.
    • Fosser Bed – The gathered and pleated fabric of the Fosser Bed is inspired by the linear fissures left by volcanic formations on the earth’s surface to create a modern eye-catching effect.
    • Pele Console - Named after the Hawaiian goddess of volcanoes and fire, the Pele Console is crafted with a structural ombre bronze base with a polished Namibia White marble tray top. Like the dynamic beauty created by a volcanic eruption, the console reflects an unexpected and striking design.
    • Forge Desk - The Forge Desk is a testament to the strength and versatility of metal, offering functionality with a modern and commanding presence. A tower of starphire glass shelves complement its bronze base and frame, with bronze hardware as the finishing touch.
    • Otago 144” Rectangle Dining Table – The Otago 144” Rectangle Dining Table explores the pairing of oak veneer and cast bronze, with a bronze detail emerging through the tabletop to display the beauty and imagination of contrasting elements. It is inspired by a region on New Zealand’s South Island that features mountains, glacial lakes and dormant volcanoes.

The Susan Ferrier Collection for Baker debuts in April 2025 at High Point Market, and will be available in showroom floors across the globe in late Summer/early Fall. 2. Legacy Furniture Company Baker-McGuire Unveils Elevated Branding

    FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Refreshed Logo, Website, Marketing Assets and More Highlight Company’s Evolution and Commitment to Design Excellence

CONNELLY SPRINGS, NC (March 28, 2025) — Baker-McGuire, a renowned leader in the luxury home furnishings industry, is excited to announce the launch of its new, elevated brand identity. As a part of a year-long initiative, the company has rolled out a refined logo, enhanced website, and an assortment of marketing materials and assets that reflect the company’s distinct evolution. In recent years, Baker-McGuire has ushered in a new wave of modern, boundary-breaking designs while preserving the heritage of its core qualities.

The resulting shifts are subtle yet significant, with nuanced adjustments inspired by Baker-McGuire’s sculptural designs, exceptional quality and exquisite materials — including a scalable system to ensure their consistent use internationally. Scale and proportion were adjusted, while the core character and recognizability of each brand was maintained. These refinements are now reflected across all print and digital brand materials, ensuring a cohesive and elevated visual identity that truly embodies the essence of Baker-McGuire.

As a part of this work, Baker-McGuire is proud to announce the launch of a refreshed website, designed to showcase these branding changes and to offer an enhanced user experience. Clientele can now more efficiently explore the brands’ extensive product offerings, including its noteworthy collaborations with renowned interior designers like Barbara Barry, Thomas Pheasant, Orlando Diaz-Azcuy, Paola Navone, and more.

Inspired by the elegance and joie de vivre of runway fashion shows, 60 new furniture pieces have been added to the dynamic line, which captures the essence of modern luxury through clean, chic designs that have the ability to transform any interior space. With an exquisite interplay of Pure Brass, Nickel Plated Brass, quartered oak veneer, and polished Hena White marble, these new Baker Luxe pieces are at once organic and refined.

This season’s Baker Luxe Collection offers a rich sensory experience, with every element chosen for its tactile appeal and visual impact. The unique textile story of the upholstered pieces involves layers of subtle sheen and elevated textures, bringing a mix of glamorous and chic fabrics such as the plush softness of chenille, subtle bouclés, silk/linen sateens with wondrous luster, a cut velvet tonal leopard motif, aniline leather, and a pearlized pewter leather. The ivory and taupe color palette is beautifully accented with shades of smokey plum and aubergine hues that look as though they have stepped right off the fall fashion runways.

    Highlights include:

    • Marni Side Table – The Marni Side Table resembles an inverted pleat on vintage 1970s culottes. This narrow, attention-grabbing table features a Nickel Plated Brass frame with a quartered oak veneer insert.
    • Layla Cocktail Table – Resembling the design of an envelope, the Layla Cocktail Table is an artful piece with a story to tell. Two geometric sections in Pure Brass are joined to form its base, supporting a tabletop of beautiful Starphire glass.
    • Sage Sideboard – The Sage Sideboard is a study in modern materiality, with an elevated pairing of wood and stone elements. Side and back panels are enveloped in polished Hena White marble, while the case features quartered oak veneer and hardware in Nickel Plated Brass or Pure Brass.
    • Ali Desk – The Ali Desk is inspired by a back cape dress seen on the red carpet, with a unique tabletop that combines straight edges and rounded corners. Its polished Hena White marble surface pairs with quartered oak veneer to create a contemporary, yet classic look.
    • Cassidy Dining Table – The signature feature of the Cassidy Dining Table is its softly undulating Nickel Plated Brass base, which calls to mind the gentle flowing of fabric in the wind. The table offers a stunning tabletop in polished Hena White marble, which pairs well with wooden elements in any space.
    • Marya Chair – The Marya Chair is spirited and feminine, with a frame crafted entirely from Nickel Plated Brass. Its uniquely twisted arms and legs create an alluring effect, in the way that the eye is drawn to shimmering earrings and bracelets.
    • Carter Bed – Boasting the layered look that exemplifies the Baker Luxe Collection, the Carter Bed features a rounded and overlapping headboard that references the shaping of an envelope. Quartered oak veneer completes the look.

  8. Baker and Paola Navone’s OTTO Studio Collaborate on Mediterranean-Inspired Collection for Fall 2023

The Paola Navone Collection for Baker Features 24 Dynamic Designs Spanning Tables, Seating, and Lighting

HIGH POINT, NC (FALL 2023) – Baker is delighted to introduce its Fall 2023 collection in collaboration with celebrated Italian architect and designer, Paola Navone, and her multi-disciplinary design firm, OTTO Studio. The 24-piece collection is inspired by the idyllic Mediterranean sense of living, specifically the Italian traditions of informal and relaxed gatherings. The designs are friendly and versatile with a hint of "divertissement,” rendering a curious and expressive line of furnishings and lighting.

“We are so fortunate to join forces with an inimitable talent like Paola,” shares Erica Wingo, Senior Vice President of Merchandising and Marketing at Baker-McGuire. “She and her team bring a new style and fresh perspective to Baker’s offerings, with a welcome creativity that allowed us to design and develop unique European-style pieces that are at once contemporary and timeless.”

The collection encompasses a variety of tables, sofas, lounge chairs, and lighting, with each product category named after a noted Italian attraction. Its core materials – cast bronze, acrylic, Murano glass, and Carrara C marble – are a tribute to the Mediterranean manufacturing traditions as well as to Baker’s heritage of exceptional craftsmanship. The pieces adhere to the standard European-style scale, such as sofas that are low and relaxed with extremely comfortable and soft sits.

Navone works in Milan as an architect, interior designer, product designer and art director. Throughout her award-winning 40+ year career, she has had an enormous impact on modern furniture design. She has traveled the world and infused her experiences into countless versatile and innovative creations. Navone’s approach is direct, visionary, and eclectic with a passion for the flavors and colors of the much-loved and much-travelled southern hemisphere, alongside tastes and styles from the western world with its wealth of tradition, open mindedness, and creative energy. As the creative visionary of OTTO Studio, she collaborates with a wide portfolio of international clients through a range of projects from interior design to product design and art direction. Navone worked closely with Domenico Diego, OTTO’s furniture design director, to bring this collection to life.

“We were first drawn to Baker because of the brand’s supremely high standards for handcraftsmanship and quality,” said Navone. “All of our projects start with an initial meeting… and from the first conversation with Erica and Mike (Jolly), we immediately found that alchemy that is the drive for creativity. We were able to introduce a contemporary collection of inviting, European-inspired pieces that feature soft lines and gentle shapes, while incorporating some of the most exquisite materials and finishes such as cast bronze, Murano glass, acrylic, and Carrara C marble. We are so delighted to debut this collection with the Baker team this fall.”

Highlights from the Paola Navone Collection for Baker include:

    • Trevi Cocktail Table - Large – Raw and handcrafted, the Trevi Cocktail Table - Large features a cast bronze frame with an irregular geometric shape. It is topped with a beautifully corrugated Murano glass texture, inspired by the undulating surface of water on its namesake fountain in Rome.
    • Vesuvio Table – Inspired by the strength and permanence of Mt. Vesuvius, the Vesuvio Table is an unexpected piece that can be used on its own or paired with the Etna Table. Crafted entirely from Carrara C Marble, the Etna Table combines an ancient material with the contemporary lines of a modern sculpture.
    • Sospiri Spot Table – Just as the Ponte dei Sospiri bridge in Venice brings a playful spirit to an elegant setting, the Sospiri Spot Table adds spontaneity and beauty to any living space. The table offers a curious and unstructured shape entirely crafted in Murano glass, with irregular shaped glass blocks that appear to balance on each other.
    • Mediterraneo Chair – The Mediterraneo Chair is inspired by the informal Mediterranean lifestyle and its embrace of generous, casual comfort. Thick, beveled armrests and deep seats beckon for hours of relaxation and conversation. Featuring essential lines, rounded forms and a central base that allows the seat to swivel with ease, this is a versatile piece that lives in harmony with nearly any style.
    • Azzurro Sofa – Designed as a place to rest and gaze at the azzurro, or blue sky, the Azzurro Sofa offers wide armrests and generously proportioned seats. Its large, removable slip cover with contrasting stitching helps create a comfortable and casual look that pairs well with modern living.
    • Volare Pendant - Large – The joyful and expressive Volare Pendant - Large has a light and friendly vibe like the famed Italian song that inspired its name. Cast and solid brass elements and five cast Murano glass pendants are freely joined to create an unexpected work of art.

The Paola Navone Collection for Baker debuts at High Point Market (October 13-18) and will be available in Baker showrooms across the globe in December. 11. McGuire Furniture Debuts the Caribbean Collection by Orlando Diaz-Azcuy for Spring 2023

    FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

The 26 Tropical-Inspired Designs Embrace Natural Textiles with a Nod to Diaz-Azcuy and
    McGuire’s Shared Coastal Roots

CONNELLY SPRINGS, NC (Spring 2023) – McGuire Furniture is proud to introduce its 26-piece ‘Caribbean’ collection for Spring 2023 in collaboration with internationally celebrated interior designer, Orlando Diaz-Azcuy. As a Cuban-born designer who spent much of his youth amongst water, sun, and the lush island landscape, Diaz-Azcuy embraced the splendor and elegance of the Caribbean’s natural topography to curate a dynamic, coastal-influenced collection inclusive of casegoods and upholstered lounge and dining seating. The collection draws inspiration from coastal communities, paying homage to both the designer’s Cuban upbringing and to McGuire’s origin in San Francisco, California. Diaz-Azcuy has a longstanding relationship with the McGuire brand, as the very first guest designer to introduce a collaborative collection. He was also a close friend of the brand’s founders, the late John and Elinor McGuire.

“We are delighted to introduce the beautiful new Caribbean collection by Orlando Diaz-Azcuy for McGuire,” says Erica Wingo, Senior Vice President of Merchandising and Marketing at Baker
Interiors Group, McGuire’s parent company. “Inspired by the indoor-outdoor lifestyle of the Caribbean, these designs introduce a rejuvenating, relaxed energy to interior spaces. It’s always an honor to collaborate with a designer as distinguished and talented as Orlando, and we are thrilled that this new collection will add to his legacy as a beloved guest designer with McGuire.”

Honoring the islands of Saint Lucia, Antigua, Curaçao, and countries along the Caribbean Sea such as Belize, each piece draws inspiration from the waterfront locale, landscape and effervescence. The collection utilizes materials synonymous with McGuire’s casual yet luxurious roots such as rattan, rawhide and matte caning to create an approachable style that effortlessly melds indoor and outdoor aesthetics. By juxtaposing these natural fibers with metal, marble and luxurious textiles, the designs evolve into timeless styles that are at once versatile and elevated.

"My vision for this collection is to capture the soothing, distinctive energy of the Caribbean Sea and tropical destinations that are reminiscent of both my own Cuban heritage and McGuire’s laid-back elegance,” says Diaz-Azcuy. “It is a pleasure to work with the McGuire team to marry my personal design ethos with their time-honored legacy. As a brand with a deeply ingrained coastal aesthetic, the introduction of a collection that embraces the tranquil tropical environment is a natural pairing."

Highlights from the Caribbean collection by Orlando Diaz-Azcuy for McGuire include:

    • Curacao Cocktail Table – Taking its inspiration from the soft clouds and endless skies of the Caribbean, classic trefoils and post-modern design, the Curaçao Side Table offers a substantial visual form with soft, subtle edges.
    • Trinidad Sofa – Balancing boxy, sculptural shaping with soft interior curves, the Trinidad Sofa is a captivating piece designed for richly-appointed spaces. The design is punctuated by generous upholstery and a natural rattan base.
    • Aruba Credenza – The Aruba Credenza is a stunning piece with multiple design influences, including neo-Classicism, Art Deco and postmodernism. The credenza resembles a boat gently rocking and swaying on the waters of the Caribbean.
    • Montserrat Lounge Chair – The Montserrat Lounge Chair is like a series of brushstrokes expressed in rattan, with curved swooping lines that nod to Art Deco design.
    • Saint Kitts Chair – The Saint Kitts Chair embraces the natural flexibility of rattan to craft a curving and sensuous silhouette. Its merging lines support a carefully upholstered seat and back.
    • Guyana Cocktail Table – The Guyana Cocktail Table is a marriage of metal and glass to express rattan, creating a balance between strength and transparency. This merging of natural and refined materials represents McGuire design at its finest.
    • Saint John End Table – The Saint John End Table is artfully made from marble, with a modern and minimalist vibe that reflects the simplicity and quiet pace of life in the tropics.
    • Nevis Chair – Inspired by the jazzy, rakish attitude of midcentury design, the Nevis Chair is a total cocoon of comfort that invites you in for a moment of pause.

The Caribbean collection by Orlando Diaz-Azcuy for McGuire debuts at High Point Market in North Carolina in April 2023. It is expected to be available for shipping by Summer 2023 and on showroom floors by Fall 2023. The Baker Originals Lighting introductions showcase unmatched quality from our longtime partners in Murano, Italy; and the home theater seating is a first for us as a part of the Bespoke in Motion line.”

    Baker Luxe 2023
A continuation of the successful Baker Luxe line, which was introduced in Spring 2020, the newest Baker Luxe pieces embrace glamour and the allure of feminine lines, inspired by jewelry-like detailing and fashion-forward silhouettes. With furnishings influenced by and named after Old Hollywood’s most enduring icons—including Mae West and Marlo Thomas—the collection reignites the imagination with its striking yet quietly luxurious style, celebrating opulent finishes and materials ideal for elevating any space, from bedroom to dining and beyond. Highlights include:

    • Winter Solstice Mirror: The Winter Solstice Mirror shimmers and shines like the bezel of a classic wristwatch. Its clear mirrored surface is surrounded by a frame made from nickel plated bronze.
    • Axton Credenza: The Axton Credenza celebrates the simple beauty of geometric forms, like the boldness and beauty of a signature bracelet. It pairs quartered oak veneer with brass integrated hardware in a bronze finish.
    • Link Round Dining Table: Inspired by the clasp and cuff detailing of luxury fashion and jewelry, the Link Round Dining Table is an oak and bronze piece with a remarkable silhouette. Its tabletop features a magnificent starburst pattern.
    • Collar Chair: With intersecting lines and a bronze frame, the Collar Chair represents a bold convergence of shaping and material. The piece features a finely upholstered seat and back.
    • Boutique Cocktail Table: Designed with a bronze frame and a cast Murano glass top and end panels, the Boutique Cocktail Table takes inspiration from the furniture styling of luxury fashion boutiques.
    • Prosecco Table: Elegant and effervescent, the Prosecco Table has a lively look inspired by the floating bubbles inside a champagne glass. The table is crafted entirely in bronze.
    • Freeform Writing Table: The Freeform Writing Table is amorphic and gently flowing, inspired by the unpredictable shaping of modernist art. A quartered oak veneer top hovers above legs cast with quartered oak grain.
    • Gala Bench: The Gala Bench feels elevated and high-energy, with the spirit and verve of a runway gala. The bench features a modern take on traditional roll-arm design.

    Baker Originals Lighting 2023
An extension of the Baker Originals Lighting line, three new lighting pieces are debuting for Spring 2023. Inspired by the classic style produced by Murano in the 1970s, each is handcrafted in Murano glass, merging vintage and modern aesthetics to create never-before-seen fixtures suitable for luxurious settings.

    • Kingsley Chandelier: Created by master glassmakers on the island of Murano, the Kingsley Chandelier features 333 clear glass elements engraved by hand. Its cylindrical suspension and bronze frame are punctuated by a repetition of glass called “stecche,” a technique invented in the 1970s and handed down through generations of craftspeople.
    • Disque Chandelier: The Disque Chandelier is a stunning and substantial piece that interplays 11 lights and nearly 100 hand-blown Murano glass discs. Each disc is carefully finished with the battuto technique—a delicate, precise process with a grinding wheel that embellishes and fragments the glassy surface to mimic the reflections of a Venetian lagoon. No two pieces are exactly the same.
    • Disque Sconce: Inspired by the classic design produced by Murano in the 1970s, the Disque Sconce merges vintage and modern to create a lighting piece that’s never been seen before. Each of the 14 glass discs is carefully finished with the battuto technique—a delicate, precise process with a grinding wheel that embellishes and fragments the surface to mimic the reflections of a Venetian lagoon.

Bespoke in Motion Home Theater Seating
Ushering in a new generation of custom seating, the introduction of Baker’s Bespoke in Motion Home Theater Seating serves as a natural evolution of the Bespoke in Motion line—allowing clientele full seating customization, with the option to select every element from design, style, configurations, and size, drawn from an assortment of classic patterns. Clients may hand-select a variety of additional options including arm and leg style, drink holder options, back styles, cushion fill, finishes, power style, and more. 13. Baker Interiors Group Introduces Baker Essentials, an Approachable Assortment of Timeless Seating Designs

Baker Aims to Attract Fresh Clientele and Fill a Market Void with Baker Essentials’
Simple Silhouettes, Clean Lines and Neutral Textiles

CONNELLY SPRINGS, NC (April 2023) – Baker Interiors Group is pleased to introduce Baker Essentials, a 54-piece seating collection offering clean-lined, approachable sofas, sectionals, loveseats, chairs and ottomans for a broad range of customers. Branded as seven styles—Ensley, Austin, Channing, Rowan, Landon, Celeste and Lennox—each piece puts comfort, casual forms, sleek design, and neutral color palettes at the forefront.

“With Baker Essentials, we sought to design a timeless assortment of seating that adheres to
Baker’s unrelenting commitment to quality and design yet comes with a more accessible price point,” said Erica Wingo, Senior Vice President of Merchandising and Marketing at Baker Interiors Group. “This new line allows us to capture additional market share while also catering to our existing loyal clientele of designers, offering them fresh, minimalist/modern designs without excessive embellishments. The 54 pieces were designed to stand on their own or complement
existing Baker and McGuire collections—fitting for a variety of residential, commercial or hospitality venues.”

The Baker Essentials designs feature a curated selection of textured textiles with elevated looks that offer a layering component across four versatile color stories: white to ivory, eggshell to camel, putty to taupe, and cool gray to charcoal. Options include linens and blended textural body cloths, a range of sumptuous bouclés, uncommon chenilles, and plush velvets. Two of the styles, Austin and Lennox, are available in two new finishes—Polished Stainless Steel and Antique Brushed Bronze— inspired by warm metals that the Baker team admired at Salone del Mobile Milano earlier this year.

Varying seat depths and heights provide clientele with a range of sits, from formal and upright to casual and low-profile. Baker’s designers utilized inventive manufacturing techniques to engineer robust, lifetime-built frames as well as custom hypo-allergenic cushion fills specifically for the Baker Essentials line. Seats are made of polyurethane foam with a fiber wrap, and the back pillows are made of 100% polyester microfiber with down-proof ticking, resulting in cushions that are low maintenance yet supremely comfortable.

The Baker Essentials pieces are rooted in modern silhouettes, paired with both traditional and transitional touches. The seven styles include:

    • The Ensley Collection – Luxurious and linear, the Ensley Collection features pieces with a low-profile, modern seat and smooth, swooping arms for the height of comfort.
    • The Austin Collection – The Austin Collection is geometric and generously proportioned, with pieces that bring a bold and structural presence to any room. Each piece includes legs carefully finished in a choice of Polished Stainless Steel or Brushed Antique Bronze.
    • The Channing Collection– With deep cushions and arms that invite you to relax and rejuvenate, the Channing Collection is a welcome addition to any upscale living room or sitting area.
    • The Rowan Collection – Both strong and playful, the Rowan Collection is defined by its thin, modern arms and its geometric feet that provide a firm foundation.
    • The Landon Collection – The Landon Collection features artistic seating options that blend modern and traditional elements. The facets and tapers of the arms create a delicate, soothing silhouette.
    • Celeste Lounge Chair – The Celeste Lounge Chair is a modern reinvention of the classic tub chair. This effortlessly stylish piece brings a contemporary vibe to the living room, bedroom or home office.
    • Lennox Lounge Chair – The Lennox Lounge Chair is an exploration in fine materials, pairing a metal frame with a highly comfortable seat in your choice of fabrics. Select from Polished Stainless Steel or Brushed Antique Bronze finishes.

  14. Baker Furniture and Thomas Pheasant Commemorate 20-Year Partnership with Dynamic Furniture Collection

The 58-Piece Collection – A Study in Modern Elegance – Features Stylish Bedroom, Dining, Occasional, Upholstery, Mirrors & Lighting Pieces

CONNELLY SPRINGS, NC (Fall 2022) – Baker Interiors Group is delighted to announce its newest collection for Baker Furniture with distinguished designer, Thomas Pheasant. The Fall 2022 debut arrives in conjunction with the 20th partnership anniversary between Pheasant and Baker. Over the past two decades, Pheasant has worked closely with the Baker Interiors Group team to bring to life eight collections for both the Baker and McGuire brands, amounting to nearly 500 furniture and lighting designs.

“When I created my first collection for Baker in 2002, my focus was to bring a fresh look to traditional furniture,” said Pheasant. “My love of classical architecture inspired the foundation of that first collection; it was a slow entry into a new vision with a clean, tailored look of the upholstery and the infusion of surprise elements...like the Constellation Mirror, which became an iconic piece. The design perspective was the literal translation of classical elements simplified to have a modern edge. Every Baker and McGuire collection since has been an evolution of classical ideas and a continued pursuit of refining these shapes that blur the lines of the past and the present.”

The Thomas Pheasant for Baker Fall 2022 collection is a continuation of this journey with a new perspective, representing Pheasant’s second largest collection to-date, featuring a sophisticated assortment of bedroom, dining, occasional and upholstery furniture, as well as intricate mirrors and exquisite lighting designs. He strives to redefine modern classical style through sculptural silhouettes, luxe finishes and a love for simplicity. The collection showcases his current interest in classical European design from the 1930s, 40s & 50s, but reinterpreted into modern pieces.

“We couldn’t be more thrilled to honor Baker’s 20-year partnership with the inimitable Thomas Pheasant this year,” said Erica Wingo, Senior Vice President of Merchandising and Marketing at Baker Interiors Group. “This new fall collection really speaks to the evolution of his talented work for the company and its brands over the past two decades, with his signature modern-elegant style and neutral palette on full display. We can only hope to continue our special relationship for many more years to come.”

Materials like Calacatta Gold Marble and Claros Grey Marble make a statement on several pieces throughout the collection, along with new finishes such as Obsidian and Bronzino. Highlights from the Thomas Pheasant for Baker Fall 2022 collection include:

    • Balustrade Lounge Chair – The Balustrade Lounge Chair features a continuous rhythm of metal work, setting the scene with an intricate yet tailored silhouette. Perfect as an accent piece, the chair is crafted with a bronze base and fully upholstered seat and back.
    • Cirque Cocktail Table – The Cirque Cocktail Table is a piece like no other, with an inset carved marble disc radiating from the center of its surface. Four tapered columns lead the eye to the large square top.
    • Forum Dining Table – Inspired by the ruins of ancient Rome, the Forum Dining Table echoes the destruction of orderly perfection and the intrinsic beauty of classicism. Its staggered columns express classical design through a modern lens.
    • Gem Night Table - Elegant, glamorous and multifaceted, the Gem Night Table attracts light to its angular form. The table is crafted in starphire glass, brass and oak for a luxurious blend of textures and materials.
    • Milano Arm Chair – The Milano Arm Chair is inspired by the modern spirit and fashion-forward culture of the city of Milan. Horizontal bands of upholstery are stacked along its wood frame, turning a classic silhouette into a new and modern creation.
    • Murano Vessel Pendant – Delicate in scale, the Murano Vessel Pendant floats on a brass loop like a modern piece of jewelry. The pendant can be used alone or grouped in multiples above a large dining table.
    • Rome Credenza – Nodding to the classical foundation that inspired this collection, the Rome Credenza features a cascade of arches like the aqueducts found throughout the ancient empire. Its brass accents put craftsmanship on display, while its elegant proportions and maximized storage help create a focal point in any kind of interior.
    • Slice Side Table – The Slide Side Table feels like a piece of modern sculpture. The table can be used individually or paired in multiples to accommodate large gatherings.
    • Verona Mirror – The Verona Mirror is like jewelry for the home: brilliant, bold and eye-catching. Radiant formations of bronze and Murano glass surround a central convex mirror.

The new introductions debut in October 2022 at High Point Market, followed by availability on showroom floors in late 2022. For more information, please visit a Baker showroom and/or connect with us on social media via Facebook, Instagram, Pinterest and Twitter. #BakerFurniture

  15. McGuire Furniture Debuts the Cuerda Collection by Laura Kirar for Fall 2022

Representing Kirar’s First Outdoor Collection for McGuire, the 16 Playful and Elegant Designs Embody McGuire’s Legacy of Natural Luxury, Featuring Woven Styles, Bold Textures and a Natural Palette

CONNELLY SPRINGS, NC (Fall 2022) – McGuire Furniture is proud to unveil its 16-piece ‘Cuerda’ collection for Fall 2022 in collaboration with internationally renowned interior and product designer, Laura Kirar. Kirar's background as a designer and artist working with fibers, textiles and hand-woven materials inspired her vision for this modern outdoor assortment of seating and tables.

“We are so pleased to reveal the new Cuerda collection by Laura Kirar for McGuire, which reflects her first outdoor designs for the brand and incorporates a classic yet artistic approach that encapsulates McGuire’s signature materiality story and ethos of laidback luxury,” said Erica Wingo, Senior Vice President of Merchandising and Marketing at Baker Interiors Group, McGuire’s parent company. “These designs, inherently inspired by nature, integrate well into many outdoor environments and represent an exciting new variety of indoor-outdoor pieces for designers and their clients to enjoy in their homes.”

‘Cuerda’ in Spanish translates to rope or cord; the collection is named as such to draw attention to the weather-resistant, sun-resilient polypropylene cable rope selected for the pieces, which is intricately wrapped and woven over the frames. The array of tables feature engineered stone tops with a leathered finish. The natural palette is simultaneously warm and cool, allowing the collection to mix well in many outdoor settings from the mountains, beach, city, or country – and can be integrated with both modern and traditional styles.

"Being aligned with McGuire’s legacy of natural luxury, I am always interested in the sculptural quality of balanced forms and inspired by the visible techniques of the artisan as much as I am by the material itself,’ said Kirar. “The volumetric language of the Cuerda designs alludes to the natural world – to the roundness of cumulus clouds and smooth sandstone boulder formations. I strive to create pieces that live in harmony with their surroundings. As one of McGuire’s most iconic styles, I incorporated weaving into the collection and selected a rounded cord with substantial diameter to create a textural skin that changes the simple geometric shapes into something soft and alive. The pieces invite one to touch, to interact, and especially to lounge."

Highlights from the outdoor Cuerda collection by Laura Kirar for McGuire include:

    • Cuerda Sofa – The Cuerda Sofa is a balance of opposites: sitting upright, but generously deep—and offering softness and comfort, yet perfectly at home in the outdoors. It offers three rectangular back cushions on a deep upholstered bench box seat cushion. The frame is fully wrapped and the side panels are hand-woven; two round bolster pillows act as arm rests.
    • Cuerda Lounge Chair – The Cuerda Lounge Chair features a thick seat cushion that invites hours of relaxation and conversation. It is handcrafted by McGuire artisans with oval rounded arms and a fully wrapped frame with woven side panels.
    • Cuerda Rectangle Dining Table – Created by skilled craftsmen and weavers, the Cuerda Rectangle Dining Table features an engineered stone top with a leathered finish and a frame completely wrapped in acrylic cording. It has a unique tri-pod leg detail on the ends. Its neutral color palette complements any outdoor seating.
    • Cuerda Counter Table – The neutral tones of the Cuerda Counter Table are simultaneously warm and cool, offering flexibility for a variety of outdoor spaces. Its frame is fully wrapped in the collection’s signature acrylic cording, while its engineered stone top features a leathered finish.
    • Cuerda Oval End Table – Inspired by the oval shaping found in clouds and natural stones, the Cuerda Oval End Table is a harmonious addition to any outdoor space. Acrylic cording wraps continuously around the frame for a natural, material-centric vibe.

The Cuerda collection debuts at High Point Market in North Carolina in October 2022. It is expected to be available for shipping in December and to hit showroom floors by the end of the year. 20. McGuire Debuts Modern, Japanese-Inspired Furniture Collection with Thomas Pheasant

Distinguished Designer Presents a Dynamic 33-Piece Collection Inspired by Japanese History, Culture, Art and Design

CONNELLY SPRINGS, NC (April 2021) – McGuire Furniture is proud to unveil its Spring 2021 collection in collaboration with renowned interior designer, Thomas Pheasant. Channeling the pure aesthetic and natural simplicity found in Japanese culture, art, design and environments, 33 new furniture introductions feature distinct sculptural forms, fresh finishes and textures, and the juxtaposition between feminine and masculine designs and colorways. The dynamic collection of seating and tables effortlessly combines Pheasant’s elegant style with McGuire’s legacy of approachable luxury.

“The new Thomas Pheasant for McGuire collection epitomizes the McGuire ethos while incorporating a unique, artistic flare through Thomas’ creative lens,” said Erica Wingo, Vice President of Merchandising and Marketing at Baker Interiors Group, McGuire’s parent company. “We are thrilled to work with our dear friend and partner to debut his third collection for McGuire – these designs are special and represent an exciting evolution of the McGuire brand.”

The Thomas Pheasant for McGuire collection embodies the Japanese concept of shibui – an aesthetic of simple, subtle and unobstructive beauty – and draws inspiration from specific aspects of Japanese culture, such as its innovative architecture and design, tranquil gardens adorned with cherry blossoms, and traditional attire, like the kimono. The collection also features five eye-catching new finishes: Moon Leaf, Sun Leaf, Straw, Quarry and Ink. Connecting to McGuire’s signature style and use of natural materials, the collection presents a contrast of bold elements – such as White Calacatta and Negro Marquina marbles, leather cord, wirebrushed oak, and textured bronze – to create a striking balance between hard and soft.

“It has been such a pleasure to once again work alongside the McGuire team to create this collection,” said Pheasant. “It was a labor of love and a product of inspiration after a recent trip to Japan (pre-pandemic!). We sought to capture the Japanese aesthetic and appreciation for simplicity which is also uniquely complex. By example, the masterful folds of a kimono inspired the design for the Crossing Duo and Crossing Trio coffee tables. The textures, sculptural elements, and elegant curves reflected in each piece elevate the collection overall and add to its intrigue, while remaining grounded in McGuire’s legacy and foundation.”

The Spring 2021 Thomas Pheasant for McGuire collection presents 33 chairs, benches, tables, chaises, sofas and ottomans. Product highlights include:

    • Weave Rectangle Cocktail Table – Relying purely on its gentle silhouette, the table’s elegant lines are enhanced by the textural beauty of a simple woven pattern. It is a perfect example of translating a single material into an object that is both beautiful and functional.
    • Cubist Side Table – Inspired by the natural rock formations found in Japanese gardens, a block of marble is carved to release a form that can be appreciated solely as a piece of modern sculpture.
    • Plank Cocktail Table – Inspired by weather worn stone pathways, a simple collection of four irregular stones come together to create a modern yet organic silhouette. Designed as a singular table, it can be arranged in multiples for an endless variety of combinations.
    • Nami Sofa – Elevated by the rise and fall of its form, the Nami (Japanese for wave) Sofa is surrounded by a simple paneled screen that brings a sense of quiet control to its fluid silhouette.
    • Strand Lounge Chair – An organic take on the classic slipper chair, this modern frame cradles the upholstered seat while incorporating natural materials found in traditional Japanese furnishings and gardens.
    • Kimono Chair – Just as the careful placement of floral patterns strategically decorated traditional kimonos, faceted blossoms are poetically linked together to enhance the chair’s elegant silhouette.
    • Sway Bench – Informed by the gentle curving roof lines of Kyoto, the Sway Bench captures the elegant simplicity expressed in traditional Japanese architecture.
    • Wave Lounge Chair – Bold and gentle, the Wave Lounge Chair is a luxurious form designed for both urban and resort interiors. Designed without the surrounding cane panels of the Nami Chair, it relies solely on the beauty of its simple upholstered form to provide multiple design options for the collection.

The Thomas Pheasant for McGuire collection debuts in April 2021, at which time it will hit showroom floors and be available to ship. The case is surrounded by a band of quartered figured walnut veneer that rests on two curved brass bases. The interior is lined in quartered figured walnut veneer, with a silvercloth center drawer.

A shimmering line of brass divides each curve of the base, which is topped with a solid rounded edge of solid walnut. Its top is inset with a starburst of quartered figured walnut veneer and brass inlay.

Barbara Barry for McGuire Spring 2021 – Modern Forms Inspired by Nature
As a part of Barry’s new introductions for McGuire, the Script Seating Collection is brought back to life as an adaptation of the iconic McGuire style. Durable rattan is soaked and bent to form a fluid script of curves and arches, resulting in a distinct elegance. The Script Seating Collection is available in four options: the Arm Chair, Side Chair, Counter Stool and Barstool.

The Barbara Barry for McGuire collection also comprises 15 modern outdoor chairs, tables and a sectional featuring tones and textures inspired by nature, allowing each piece to complement its al fresco surroundings. The pieces are made of durable powder coated aluminum, with new finishes in Gravel and Garden, acrylic weave colorways in Bark and Stone, and weathered teak in Shadow. Many of the new weather-resistant furniture designs were inspired by the success of Barry’s recent indoor introductions for McGuire that debuted in Fall 2019, creating long-lasting pieces that render splendor and quality.

Highlights include the sleek Arrow Dining Table, featuring a soft radius edge of solid teak that is supported on a modern base of powder coated aluminum; the Bow Lounge Chair – a modern form with a curved back that embraces its user in comfort while providing restful support; the Bow Bench – a casual and modern low-profile seat, ideal for a table or garden seating; and the Catalina Sectional – a simple, low design with a modern demeanor, featuring a loose seat over a recessed metal plinth base.

“I am delighted to expand upon my partnership with Baker and McGuire to bring new indoor and outdoor designs to life,” said Barry. “For Baker, I sought to return to the romance of style by creating designs that are as graceful and beautiful as they are functional. These new pared-down pieces produce a classic feeling, pairing easily with the traditional and the modern. For McGuire, we’re proud to reintroduce a classic McGuire style with the Script Seating Collection, along with debuting a line of modern, sculptural outdoor designs envisioned for a beautiful garden setting.”

SAN FRANCISCO (June 29, 2020) – McGuire Furniture is proud to unveil a 24-piece collection in collaboration with distinguished designer, Kara Mann. Drawing inspiration from vintage designs with a 1970s West Coast feel, the collection boasts a relaxed, earthy and cozy aesthetic. Refined yet casual, the unique designs feature a variety of high-texture materials, vintage proportions, low seating, and solid pure forms that complement McGuire’s signature approachable style.

“We are very excited to introduce McGuire’s first collection with the incredibly talented Kara Mann, which effortlessly captures our brand’s spirit of casual luxury through a unique and laidback lens,” said Erica Wingo, Vice President of Merchandising and Marketing at Baker Interiors Group, McGuire’s parent company. “We worked together diligently to expand the material selection and depth, while keeping comfort and livability as a priority. It was an honor to work with Kara to bring her exceptional vision to life.”

The Kara Mann for McGuire collection is comprised of an assortment of beds, tables, seating, accent pieces and storage, with each piece designed to stand on its own. Case goods showcase solid forms, while low comfortable seating brings a lighter, casual feel. New textures and finishes include wrapped leather cord, an edgy-chic version of traditional wrapped Danish cord; channeled oak to add linear depth; creme travertine; and warm aged textured bronze that brings added personality, reminiscent of vintage iron finds.

In addition to the 24 furniture designs, the Kara Mann for McGuire collection introduces 28 new fabrics, with a limited color scheme that blends a standard black colored base as the foundation, layered with accents in apricot and olive green. Edgy and textural, the look is extended with a welcoming feel to create a true sanctuary: deeply plush and inviting with a ‘sink in’ casual aesthetic.
The fabrics feature a variety of materials that feel hand-woven with a distinctly artisanal approach. Highlights include Pitch, an apricot, fuzzy, diagonal chenille; Loops, an oyster, classic boucle; and Fluff, a licorice black and white mohair; among other cozy offerings.

“It has been such a pleasure working with the McGuire team to develop my first collection with them,” said Mann. “My goal was to create a thoughtful line that added a vintage perspective and unexpected materiality to McGuire’s modern furnishings, while still encompassing the essence of timelessness and natural luxury that the company is renowned for. The use of texture, woven materials and matte woods gives McGuire’s handcrafted furniture a grounded and cozy aesthetic that we are very proud of.”
